North Fork of the Nehalem River
Many fish being taken here using regular tackle and eggs. The fly rods
can still find a spot here and have caught a few fish in the last few
days. Plan on fishing very slow presentations such as BH Lifters and
egg patterns.

The winter steelies are present throughout the lower system and predominantly below the hatchery now.
This would be an excellent time to checkout the North Fork of the
Nehalem as angler are reporting good to fair catches of winter steelies.
This is also a very good fly fishng river and can be accessed above the North Fork Hatchery by foot. Plan on a hike!!!!!!!
Plan on using sinking tip fly lines and smaller flies due to the lower
temps. The area above the hatchery can be accessed via the logging road
by foot. There is lots of prime fly fishing water in this area
and many anglers by pass this area to hit the area below the hatchery.

The first winters have entered the river and should provide some interesting action.
11/06/08
The river finally has some flow and should see a good number of fish
returning. Plan on seeing winter steelies entering this system soon.
The winters usually enter around the middle or late November and can
produce large fish in the teens.
