- Tye a Wooly Bugger- Examine how to tye the Wooly bugger using the proper techniques and materials.

-  Discussion of size, shape and color in relation to patterns 

 

Week II  - Wet Flies

               

Examine how to tye the following wet flies using the proper techniques  and materials.

§  Damsel Fly Nymph

§  Stone Fly Nymph    

§  Soft Hackle

 

Week III  Steelhead Flies

 

Examine how to tye Steelhead flies using the proper materials and techniques.

 

§  Green Butt Skunk

§  Fall Favorite

§  Steelhead Muddler  - Demo

 

Week IV  Dry Flies

 

Examination of the proper materials and construction techniques for dry flies.

 

Includes discussion on life cycles of insects and how they relate to fly fishing\

§  Dark Cahill

§  Improved Sofa Pillow

 

All flies involve use of proper size, shape and color in their construction which is critical to the construction of a good quality fly. A discussion of the variations also is included on each fly along with possible uses.   

 

Emphasis is placed on proper construction with references to identification of corresponding insects and other possible food sources for the fish.
